Head of Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) Nyashanu Ridge (Ridge Nyashanu) may be dismissed due to the fact that diamond mining in Zimbabwe remains disappointingly low.
In the first six months of this year in Zimbabwe produced 972 765 carats of diamonds against the target of 6 million carats, said a government official.
Since March this year ZCDC is the only producer of diamonds in Marange (Marange), Zimbabwe.
Newsday reported that the state-owned company is currently looking for a new CEO to change the negative trend.
However, senior officials of the Ministry of Mines opposed the proposal.
"Nyashanu has the support of the minister, but the board decided to dismiss it is assumed that starting this week it will operate on the territory of the mine itself, to pave the way for other directors, but he still had not been fired." - said an unnamed source.
"The problem with ZCDC that was hired by many people, but they do not have the necessary knowledge and skills There is also too much interference in daily operations at the mine There is a disunity and lack of clarity as to how the company should work.." - he added .
With the company replaces the Chief Executive Officer for the third time ZCDC started in February this year.
