To mark its 50th golden anniversary, Export Promotion Council of precious stones and jewelery (Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, GJEPC) of India held a charity dinner "Jewelers for hope" (Jewellers for Hope) in collaboration with De Beers company. The event has become one of the Council's initiatives in corporate social responsibility.
Chairman GJEPC Pravinshankar Pandya (Praveenshankar Pandya), CEO of De Beers Group Bryus Kliver (Bruce Cleaver) and deputy chairman of GJEPC Russell Mehta (Russell Mehta) met with a number of jewelers, celebrities and important members of the industry as part of an official dinner. GJEPC and De Beers was able to collect a significant amount of $ 0.15 million in support of the two non-governmental organizations (NGOs) - Swades Foundation, dedicated to the protection of the rights of the rural population, and the Friends of Tribal Society, which supports the welfare of tribal communities.

Companies CanAlaska Uranium Ltd and De Beers Canada announced an agreement worth 20.4 million Canadian dollars ($ 15.7 million) on exploration of diamond deposits in the western part of the Athabasca Basin.
CanAlaska, which owns the land area of approximately 700,000 hectares in the Athabasca Basin in Canada, initially applied for carrying out exploration in the region and selected for the development of 75 goals, which can potentially be kimberlites.
