President of the World Diamond Council Andrey Polyakov believes that the acceleration of growth of diamond sales are not expected in the near future, as demand from China continues to decline.
Sales of diamonds used in jewelry, on a global scale will increase by 4% annually, at least until 2019, Polyakov said in an interview with Bloomberg News.
His assumption corresponds with the average annual growth ALROSA diamond sales over the past decade, according to the material. Poles is the Vice President of ALROSA.
"We are seeing steady growth," - said Polyakov on Wednesday (September 7) in an interview in New York, where the headquarters of the WDC, and which last week held its annual general meeting of the organization.
Decline in sales in China, due to the anti-corruption campaign, will be offset by strong demand from the US, Japan, India and middle class at the expense of Europe, where Chinese tourists support sales growth.
