International experts will discuss the support ALROSA colored diamonds in the Mediterranean jewelery and gemological conference (Mediterranean Gem and Jewellery Conference), which will be held in Siracusa, Italy, 11-14 May 2017.
The event will be held a series of seminars on color and fluorescent diamonds, as well as cutting and jewelry.
Alrosa, the largest diamond producer by volume, expressed its interest in participating as the main sponsor and speaker at the conference.
The main topic of the conference will be colored diamonds, and 6 participants of the event will cover this topic. In addition, four international speaker will present their views on the precious stones, cutting and jewelry.
During the conference, a number of international experts in the gems and jewelery sector will organize several seminars on optical methods for screening and identification of colored gemstones, including individual and small ornaments mounted in synthetic diamonds and "chalk"; evaluation of refined and natural colored diamonds; and the use of special gemological devices for screening.
The conference will also feature roundtable on "Description and marketing colored diamonds" and "Fluorescence: its importance for the identification and valuation of diamonds." Moderate them is John Chapman (Gemetrix) with the participation of experts from Aurora Gems, CGL-GRS, HRD , NCDIA, NAJA, Symmetry Jewellery Valuation, who will answer questions from the audience.
The success of the conference in Greece in the year 2015 and in Spain in 2016 was the basis for the next similar event in 2017.

In March 2016 India's polished exports rose by 4.34%, to 1.82 billion, versus $ 1.74 billion in March last year. By volume, polished exports amounted to 3.52 million carats against 2.82 million carats a year earlier. This is evidenced by the preliminary data of the Council to promote the export of gems and jewelery (Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, GJEPC).
Since the beginning of this fiscal year (April 2015 - March 2016), India's polished exports fell to $ 19.99 billion from $ 23.16 billion in the same period of the previous year, which represents a decrease of 13.66%. Polished exports during this period also declined, and in volume terms, up to 32.98 million carats to 34.53 million carats in the same period of the previous year.
Rough imports in value terms fell by 5.31% to $ 1.39 billion in March 2016, compared to $ 1.47 billion in March 2015. In volume diamond imports increased to 1.50 million carats against 1.32 million carats in the same period last year.
During the period from April 2015 on the March 2016 imports of diamonds into India declined by 16.7% to $ 14.04 billion from $ 16.75 billion in the same period last year. The volume of imports during this period also fell to 13.84 million carats to 14.61 million carats.
Rough diamond exports from India grew by 0.5% in March 2016 to $ 0.156 million against $ 0.155 million a year earlier. By volume, the figure was 3.13 million carats against 4.07 million carats last year.
From April 2015 on the March 2016 diamond exports amounted to $ 11.69 billion versus $ 14.18 billion in the same period last year, a decrease of 17.56%. The volume of diamond exports fell by 10% over this period, with 33.94 million carats to 30.55 million carats.
Polished diamond imports to India declined in March 2016 to 51.87% to $ 0.26 million from $ 0.542 million in February 2015. However, from April to March, this figure fell to 58.26%, from $ 66.4 million last year to $ 27.7 million this year.
